Member of the Board of Trustees (voluntary)

Citizens Advice Edinburgh is seeking committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees as voluntary members.

As a member of the Board, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our organisation and ensuring that we continue to provide high-quality advice and support to the citizens of Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families in our community.

Citizens Advice Edinburgh is a trusted and independent charity that offers free, confidential, and impartial advice to the residents of Edinburgh. We are dedicated to empowering individuals, advocating for their rights, and promoting social justice. Our services cover a wide range of issues, including welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, consumer rights, and more.

Our Aims:

● To provide accessible and high-quality advice services to the people of Edinburgh

● To empower individuals to make informed decisions and take control of their lives

● To campaign for social justice and influence policies that impact our clients

● To promote equality and tackle discrimination in all its forms

Joining the Board:

As a member of the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for:

● Providing strategic leadership and direction to the organisation

● Ensuring effective governance and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

● Supporting the Chief Executive Officer and senior management team in achieving our objectives

● Contributing to the development and implementation of our strategic plans

● Representing Citizens Advice Edinburgh at external events and building strong relationships with stakeholders

About You:

We are looking for individuals who live or work in Edinburgh or its surrounding areas and possess the following qualities and experience: ● A commitment to the values and mission of Citizens Advice Edinburgh

● A strategic mindset and the ability to think critically and make informed decisions

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills

● Experience in one or more of the following areas: governance, finance, fundraising, legal, marketing, human resources and particularly IT.

● A willingness to devote time and energy to the role, including attending regular board meetings and participating in sub-committees.
